When you download and start the tunnel, the java process makes a call to TestingBot to create a new pristine VM which will act as a proxy between your network and our browser grid. As you start a test, the browser in our grid will connect to the VM, which in turn will forward the proxy request to your machine via SSH. The proxy VM runs the latest version of Squid to cache static files, speeding up the transfer between your network and our browser grid. This week, we've upgraded our proxy VM and replaced our OpenSSH application with an OpenSSH version running the [HPN-SSH](http://www.psc.edu/index.php/hpn-ssh) patches. Maintained by the Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center, the HPN-SSH (High Performance SSH) patches speed up SSH transfers significantly without compromising on security. Together with our [tuned TCP stack](http://www.psc.edu/index.php/networking/641-tcp-tune) this upgrade will provide faster speed to everyone using our TestingBot tunnel, without the need to upgrade.
