Today we are announcing that TestingBot now supports ChromeOS for both manual and automated testing. You can now run your tests on ChromeOS machines, fully equipped with Android 14, to ensure your websites and apps deliver a seamless experience on Chromebooks, Pixelbooks and ChromeOS Flex devices.
What is ChromeOS?
ChromeOS is a lightweight, fast and secure operating system developed by Google. It powers a wide range of devices including:
- Chromebooks: Affordable, fast-booting laptops used by millions worldwide.
- Pixelbooks: Premium ChromeOS devices built by Google.
- ChromeOS Flex: A version of ChromeOS designed to bring older PCs and Macs back to life.
With ChromeOS gaining popularity in education, enterprise and casual use, it's essential to ensure your apps and websites function perfectly across these devices.
We're releasing 3 configurations: ChromeOS Small (1366x768 - 160dpi), ChromeOS Medium (3840x2160 - 320dpi) and ChromeOS Large (1920x1080 - 160dpi).
Automated ChromeOS Testing with ChromeDriver
Our ChromeOS devices use ChromeDriver for automation, allowing you to run Selenium and WebDriver-based tests directly on ChromeOS. Whether you're validating a responsive layout or verifying end-to-end flows, your automated tests will now run on the actual Chrome browser inside a ChromeOS environment.
Each test run comes with generated log files, screenshots and a video of the test.
Manual Testing, Optimized for Real-World Scenarios
Want to manually interact with a ChromeOS machine? TestingBot offers full remote access to ChromeOS devices for real-time testing. During your session, you can:
- Change IP Geolocation to test from different countries
- Hear audio output from the ChromeOS device
- Enable/disable dark mode
- Throttle network speed to simulate slow or spotty connections
- Set GPS location for geo-sensitive apps
- Switch locale/language to test internationalization and localization
This makes it easy to replicate real-world conditions and catch issues before they reach production.
Fast and Scalable ChromeOS Testing
We have optimized our infrastructure for blazing fast ChromeOS performance—minimizing boot time, improving test startup speed and offering high test concurrency. Whether you’re testing a website, a PWA or an Android app on ChromeOS, your team gets the speed and scale they need.
Thanks to Android 14 support on ChromeOS, you can also upload and test your native Android apps directly on these devices. Verify your app's behavior across different display resolutions, input types and ChromeOS versions without needing any local setup.
ChromeOS support is available now on all TestingBot plans. Simply choose ChromeOS in the list, upload your app or enter your test URL and start testing.
Documentation is available for Manual Web Testing and Manual App Testing.
